Serina K. Moore is not an average third grader. She is a third grader with ambition. She has plans to become a famous chef, scientist, veterinarian, and possibly an archaeologist when she grows up. Although her father has warned her that it will be difficult to accomplish such high goals, Serina is determined to become the world’s most famous person.

Challenged by her dad to earn the $20 needed for admission to the carnival, Serina enlists the aid of her best friend Autumn to raise the funds. If she doesn’t earn the money for the carnival, she’ll miss the most terrifying ride of all time, The Cage of Fear.
Although Suzy, her pet dog, complicates matters, Serina learns about fiscal responsibility, her town's history, environmental awareness, and the importance of not giving up on her dreams during her exploits.
