The kidnapping of a foster child leads Ari into a familiar quagmire of deceit and violence, with a unique side-trip to the morgue. Salim Haim, an Iraqi expatriate, has established an anatomy class in Richmond that caters to students from around the world who, for cultural reasons, have had limited access to corpses for dissection. But Haim has knowledge of a deadly cache of VX nerve agent and has become a marked man. His dilemma is intertwined with the fate of the kidnapped child. Ari is tasked with saving them both. In the meantime, he is forced to deal with intrusive drones, a complex plot hatched by the U.S. Government, his old adversary Sung-soo Rhee and a violent cat who has deposited her kittens in his house and appears determined to evict him. It all seems to combine into a profitless undertaking for Ari—until he sees an opening to the greatest profit of all: reuniting with his wife.
