Mickey is given a 'routine' job, but his assignments are never predictable. In this case, he is defending an eccentric local millionaire with a diagnosis of dementia and quite a few chips on his shoulder and scores to settle before he finally admits defeat. So, given the fact he's dying, why would anyone want to try and kill him? What has he done to upset people? Is it something about his obsession with mercury, the chemical that makes up most of the fillings that British people have in their teeth? But it's so common, so ordinary - where's the controversy? Mickey doesn't get it. The man has odd views, he expresses himself aggressively, but that doesn't explain the reaction. Is he on to something? Has he discovered a secret, something so explosive it could derail economies and bring down governments? Surely not. Mickey tries to ignore his feelings, as usual, but there is something else troubling him. There is a spy in his camp.
