Walter Beran was a man who arguably shaped the soul of Los Angeles more than any contemporary from the 1970s-1990s. To accomplish this as a city official, philanthropist or entertainer would not be surprising. To accomplish this as an accountant is almost unbelievable.

His story reads like a movie trailer action packed with drama, tragedy, survival and a love story for the ages.

Orphaned as an infant when his father murdered his Uncle, picking cotton as a child during the depression to survive, a war hero and survivor when he went down with the ship when it was torpedoed by a German U Boat. He would go on to help lead Los Angeles in it's business and civic institution working tirelessly to open those institutions to minorities and women.

Advisor to mailroom boys and Presidents he still found time to write incredible love letters for 22 years every night he was away from his wife.

Do you want to lead a joyous life and contribute to a great society? Those answers can be found through his life story.
